The Course

Your goal is to spend as much time as possible where the animals are, not back at camp dealing with problems, or broke down on the side of the trail. Your base camp should be efficient, comfortable, and portable. Field days should involve minimal time fiddling with gear or dealing with forgotten logistics, and maximum time with your eyes up, finding animals. Shot opportunities should be capitalized upon.

Every technique and system in this course has been tested and refined through 20 years of actual hunting experience. These aren't theoretical concepts—they're practical solutions that work in real conditions.

This comprehensive course helps beginners develop the skills and knowledge needed for successful mountain bow hunting. Michael's system focuses on practical preparation and execution that keeps you comfortable and effective in the field.

You can't hunt successfully if your body is breaking down each day from poor food, inadequate clothing, wrong gear, or low morale. This course gives you a framework for operating your hunt efficiently and effectively.

Your instructor

Michael Montoya has been mountain hunting for 20 years in the Colorado Rockies. Without a mentor to guide him, he built his hunting system from the ground up, starting with a foundation of backpacking with his father in the Comanche Peaks Wilderness. Michael produced Solid Archery Mechanics Advanced with Tom Clum Sr., owner of Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear. This has allowed him unique insights and knowledge created through collaboration with Tom. Michael also serves as VP on the board of his local archery club, and is responsible for bringing a new outdoor archery range to his community.

What makes Michael's teaching style unique is his approachable, conversational manner. He presents hunting and archery concepts with quiet humor and practical wisdom, making learning feel like getting advice from an experienced friend who lives in the mountains. Michael keeps things light and interesting without being overly serious about hunting.
